A brave new world?

In December of 2009 I purchased a copy of "This is Way" by Thirty Seconds to Mars at their show in San Diego. As the band signed it, I told them it was going to a buddy of mine in Kabul. I remember Tomo saying,"All right!"

In June, the band requested that service men and women send in videos of their daily activities for use in their video for the title track. I emailed my friend the information and told him to get on it. He called me on June 23rd to tell me that the video was on its way. I received it three weeks later.

On July 23rd, it was reported that two servicemen were missing in the eastern province of Logar. On the 27th a spokesman for NATO and U.S. forces in Afghanistan announced that one of the two U.S. sailors missing in Afghanistan since last week had been confirmed dead.

HT2 Justin McNeley was a 30 year old father of two young boys. He was a dedicated serviceman and due to return home in September to begin his new assignment at Camp Pendleton. Justin was also my very good friend.

R.I.P.
